Education Outside the Classroom

Outdoor Education is a big part of life at KVC.  Students will be involved in outdoor activities at each and every year level and in many different subject areas. Being part of Enviro schools, KVC is committed to promoting and learning about sustainable practices.

KVC aims to use Education Outside the Classroom to challenge and extend students, improve self-confidence and build trusting relationships and team-work within a group.  Build and develop leadership skills and practical skills in many Outdoor Pursuits.  Help engage students in a different way to make their education experience unique and enjoyable.

Junior EOTC includes, to name a few.

Beach Education, Swimming, Rock Climbing, kayaking, Sandboarding and many others.

Year 8 – 3 day camp at camp Columba in Gore.

Year 10 – 5 day camp at Tautuku in the Catlins

This is a senior course that comprises of two practical sessions and two theory sessions per week.  Students will gain experience and back ground knowledge in:

Students go on a three day Tramp and a two day ski Trip as part of the course.

Many students go on to careers within the Outdoors and Tourism Industries.
