Chinese International Information and Fees 2016

Entry Requirements and Programme Details

There are two requirements for entry. Firstly students need to sit our Placement Test. Secondly students need to present a copy of their two most recent school reports. Other common questions and answers including entry criteria can be viewed here.

English Language Requirements

A minimum level of English language is needed. This will be established when students sit our Placement Test. Because we have two full-time ESOL Teachers there is no need for students to attend a language centre prior to coming to KVC. Students can study a minimum of 8 hours ESOL per week as part of their academic programme.

The priority at Kaikorai Valley College is excellence in teaching and learning. The highly professional staff is committed to providing encouragement and individual assistance to our students in order that they achieve to their potential. The time-table for Years 11 – 13 is flexible and so students can study subjects at each of these levels in a given year.

Co-Curricular Activities

There is a wide variety of seasonal sports available including Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Cross-country, Football, Golf, Hockey, Horse Riding, Ice Hockey, Mini-Ball, Moto-Cross, Mountain Biking, Multi Sport, Netball, Orienteering, Rugby, Skiing, Softball, Tennis, Touch, Volleyball and Water-polo. There are several music groups including bands, orchestras and choirs. Drama is a strength of our school and we have several productions each year.

We have 7 staff directly responsible for taking care of all of our international students’ needs. We are a signatory to the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. Copies of this code are available in several languages at:

All accommodation is in carefully selected, safe home-stays. Our own Home-stay Co-ordinator, Mrs Jenny McBeath, takes care of all accommodation and associated requirements.
